Oughtifest: Planning a community festival

Oughtifest is a medium-sized community music festival Oughtibridge, a small village on the outskirts of Sheffield. The festival has already been running for several years and has a big local following. For 2026, it was the first time they turned to EventPlot.

Oughtifest takes place at Oughtibridge War Memorial Sports Club, with the event happening on the main cricket pitch and several facilities and services happening from the club house. Because of the tight constraints of the site, the layout of the stage, vendors, crowd spaces and access routes needs to be planned carefully.

This is where EventPlot came in handy. After adding all of the vendors to EventPlot, the planning map was used to allow the site to be accurately laid out, starting with the satellite image of the cricket pitch and then adding the site area, fences, trees and then the stage and vendors.

The Walk tool on the planning map allowed the site planners to walk around the site well in advance to see how the crowd would flow and to check before the day if there were any bottlenecks to be aware of.

Using the stage and linked crowd area tool, the team at Oughtifest were able to set the expected crowd density and estimate the number of people that the allocated area could contain, ensuring that the ticket sales matched the actual capacity.

Once all of the performers had been added to EventPlot, the team at Oughtifest were then able to use EventPlot to edit and instantly publish a professional website containing all of the details of the vendors, performers, the stage schedule and an interactive map of the festival: https://oughtifest.owmsc.co.uk/
